This sleek crossbody bag combines minimalist design, low weight, and tons of ways to carry and use it. Weighing in at just 125 grams, the handy Mono[PA6] Musette is the perfect sidekick for those long, busy days.
SIMPLE TO RECYCLE — THANKS TO ITS MONO-MATERIALITY
To ensure that Mono[PA6] bags can be recycled as a whole, they're made entirely from a single material: polyamide 6, aka PA6, better known as nylon. Sounds simple, but monomateriality is complex. It took some serious work to find up to 17 different components all made from PA6 — hard-wearing zippers, water-repellent fabric, straps, lanyards, and buckles included.
INNOVATIVE FABRIC: A WATER-REPELLENT MONO-MATERIAL
Mono[PA6] bags are tough, long-lasting and water-repellent. But the search for a single-material fabric that could repel water proved fruitless. Most fabrics like that use coatings or membranes made of other materials. And because we were looking for a mono-material, that was out of the question. So, with a partner, we developed a brand-new fabric that’s both water-repellent and a mono-material. Win-win.
THE MONO[PA6] BACKPACK
The Mono[PA6] Backpack is robust, capacity-adjustable, and meets the diverse needs of everyday city life. The musette (black-on-black, no label) comes along for the ride. It clips onto the backpack in two places or can be carried on its own. With a fold-roll closure, adjustable capacity and plenty of compartments.
THE VISION
Circular thinking and acting is an integral part of FREITAG's DNA. We design products that go beyond using discarded materials and are built to go full-circle. We’ve already done it with our compostable F-ABRIC clothing line and the circular smartphone F385 CIRC-CASE. The innovative Mono[PA6] bags are the next big step.
CIRCULARITY IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY
A product is only truly circular if it actually makes it back into the cycle. That only works if you use your Mono[PA6] bag for as long as possible, take good care of it and return it to FREITAG at the end of its life. That way it gets turned into something new. The cycle is closed and keeps turning.

THE FREITAG MONO[PA6] CYCLES
The idea is simple: Mono[PA6] bags are made from just one material, so they're 100% recyclable as a whole. Once the bags have reached the end of their life, after as much use as possible, owners can return them via FREITAG's Take-Back Service.
From Zurich, the used bags go to a recycling partner who shreds and mechanically processes them as a whole into PA6 granulate. That can then be turned into new things — like bag components.

Seventeen components. One material.
Every single part of the Mono[PA6] bags is made of PA6. Limiting ourselves to a single material might sound easy, but it’s a lot more complex than that.
To make the Mono[PA6] Backpack, for example, we had to track down 17 PA6-based components, each with specific textures and properties — from a water-repellent fabric to hard-wearing zippers, comfy shoulder straps, durable thread, and a cushioned back panel. The Mono[PA6] Musette uses 14 of these components.
Collaborating for innovation
We believe the transition to a circular economy depends entirely on collaboration. That’s why we've teamed up with a Taiwanese textile partner to co-develop the innovative water-repellent outer material for the Mono[PA6] bags.
And we kept the cooperative approach going with the product design: the Mono[PA6] Backpack and Musette were co-created with well-known British designer Jeffrey Siu. His work draws on — and reinterprets — the bike culture that FREITAG grew up with.

And what happens when your bag's journey finally ends? We take all used Mono[PA6] bags back, collect them and then recycle them as a whole. That way, your old BBB (best bag buddy) can be turned into something new.
