Once pronounced dead, vinyl lives on. And every year, more and more LPs and EPs are spinning on the turntables. So, we're bringing back the square DJ bag to our messenger bag collection.
A BLAST FROM THE PAST
At a time when our messenger bags made from used truck tarps, bicycle inner tubes, and car seat belts were on the point of revolutionizing the bag world, the techno revolution was bringing life to desolate, empty warehouses and factories.
Because we were already thinking in cycles—and anti-cyclically—back then, and despite the relentless onslaught of the CD, FREITAG brought out a square version of the messenger bag in 1995: the F21 NIGHTCLUB DJ bag.
Today, the world looks very different. At best, CDs are used as upcycled decorative elements, and we stream our music. But those vinyl records are still spinning on the turntables, and at an ever-increasing rate. To ensure this remains the case and that all newly released EPs and LPs survive for many years to come, we're reintroducing the robust and water-repellent square F21 NIGHTCLUB.
F21 NIGHTCLUB
Like the 1995 original, the new edition offers space for up to 30 albums. Making it the perfect old-new companion for collectors, DJs, record store treasure hunters, and anyone who likes to raid the merchandise stalls after concerts.
FROM USED MATERIALS
Like the 1995 original and all other classic FREITAG messenger bags, the new edition of the F21 NIGHTCLUB gives used materials sourced from the highways and byways a new lease of life:
- Incredibly beautiful, individual and discarded truck tarps from all over Europe are cleaned in our giant washing machines, cut to size using acrylic templates, and then sewn into water-repellent DJ bags.
- The flaps covered with B-stock bike inner tubes are well protected to ensure a long life.
- The robust, wide shoulder straps are made from B-stock material.
SQUARE, PRACTICAL, INDIVIDUAL
- Under the Velcro flap, the new edition of the F21 NIGHTCLUB offers space for a good 30 vinyl records or anything else measuring around 33 × 15 × 33 cm.
- Thanks to the adjustable shoulder strap and quick-release fastener, the messenger bag can be perfectly adapted to suit any user's back and carrying preferences.
- The large flap conceals a compartment for less important items.
- You can immediately see that it's a new edition by the memorable embossing on the tarp: F21 NIGHTCLUB / A BLAST FROM THE PAST.

THE FREITAG MESSENGER
The first FREITAG bags were messenger bags made from used truck tarps—pretty practical and pretty good. Since then, one-off bags inspired by bike-mounted couriers have established themselves as our core competence.
F11 LASSIE
The F11 LASSIE is a proportionately reduced version of the original FREITAG messenger bag. It's made from used truck tarp with space for 26 cassettes and even more when enlarged. Of course, you can also pack a bunch of completely different stuff in its 27 × 9 × 36 cm.

F40 JAMIE
Tested by professional couriers, the F40 JAMIE Hip Bag has numerous features and measures 18.5 × 5.5 × 12.5 cm. It holds almost exactly 72 bunched-up headphones.

The F41 HAWAII FIVE-O is a lightweight messenger bag reduced to essentials. The bag is easy to strap on, measures 30 × 9 × 17 cm and has room for up to 459 USB sticks, enough for any DJ.

With its dimensions of 32 × 9.5 × 5 cm, the F14 DEXTER is a medium-sized messenger bag. Like its siblings, the bag is made from used truck tarp and, thanks to its expandable volume, holds 36 rattling CDs.
