The RENEW service includes replacing individual, simple seams as well as parts like buttons, buckles, FREITAG labels, fasteners and zipper sliders.
Cost: 25 CHF
We've been offering various repair services to lengthen the lives of FREITAG originals for almost as long as they've existed. A repair not only gets your bag up and working again — it's also easier on your wallet and the planet.
There are three ways to get your bag back in shape.
Our online spare parts depot has all kinds of buckles, hooks, zipper sliders and more. You'll also find easy how-to guides showing you how to swap out broken bits yourself (or have your local cobbler do it). And best of all: all spare parts are free.
If there's no FREITAG Store near you and spare parts won't solve it, you'll need to use our repair form. Send it along with a few photos of your damaged bag. A few days later, we'll tell you what your bag needs, what a repair would cost, and which FREITAG repair station you can ship it to.
In order to avoid losing sight of the bigger picture (aka the circular economy) in this jungle of torn Velcro fasteners and zippers, broken buckles and smaller or larger holes in tarps, we’ve created the FREITAG Repair Principles.
The shorter the distance, the better. It means faster repairs and keeps our carbon footprint as small as possible. That’s why we’re constantly expanding our network of regional repair shops.
We patch things up to make them functional again, not to make them look new. Signs of use and aging are what we call patina and are an expression of character. Proper care also helps to extend the life of your FREITAG bag.
We always try to make the impossible possible. But sometimes that hole in the tarp is just too big, or the tear in the worst possible spot. We shouldn’t forget that we work with used truck tarps. They come from a wide range of manufacturers and they often behave quite differently.
Repairing things is always a good idea. But sometimes it makes more sense to have the open seam on your keyholder sewn up by the shoemaker around the corner, rather than to send a little item like that overseas and back.
How long it takes to repair your bag depends on where you are, what needs fixing, and how busy the repair station is.
We can only tell you the exact cost and estimated timing once we’ve had a look at your bag. You can drop by your nearest FREITAG Store with your battered one-off or, if there isn’t a FREITAG store nearby, fill out the repair form and send in your bag from wherever you are.
The RENEW service includes replacing individual, simple seams as well as parts like buttons, buckles, FREITAG labels, fasteners and zipper sliders.
Cost: 25 CHF
The REPAIR service covers all regular repairs, except tarp restorations. This includes damage in trickier spots, such as repairing and replacing bike inner tubes, straps and Velcro fasteners, as well as repairing the inner lining. This price also applies if several small parts or a whole zipper need to be replaced.
Cost: 60 CHF
A small RETARP service covers sealing smaller holes and cuts in the tarp, as well as touching up worn corners. To do this, we mix PVC paint to match your bag. The price also includes all necessary repairs described above.
Cost: 90 CHF
The big RETARP service covers the restoration of several or large areas of damage to the tarp, either by retarping with PVC paint, using tarp patches, or a transplant, which involves replacing an entire bag component with a new one. Replacing the inner lining also falls into this price category. The price also includes all necessary repair work from the other categories.
Cost: 120 CHF
If you send in your bag or drop it off at a FREITAG Store, it will end up at the closest FREITAG Repair Station. Here, it will get in the reliable hands of specialists that know all the skills and tricks that are needed by a Bag Doctor. Not every FREITAG Store has its own Repair Station, but (almost) every Repair Station is located in an FREITAG Store.
