Zurich, November 2025 – FREITAG one-offs have always been tough and built to last. But that’s not enough for the brand. With an ever-expanding service line-up, the Zurich-based company keeps finding new ways to extend the life of its bags. Right next to its Flagship Store, the brand is opening an innovative repair kiosk with its most comprehensive repair offering yet. And if you're fast, you can grab a free repair on the day after Black Friday, not just in Zurich but also at seven other FREITAG Stores with a repair station.

Around Black Friday 2025, FREITAG is putting the focus firmly on its repair service. On Saturday, November 29, the new repair station in Zurich will officially open with the widest range of repair options to date. To celebrate, the Zurich bag-makers will cover the entire repair cost for the first five customers, not only in Zurich but also at their repair stations in Munich, Milan, Taipei, Melbourne, Bangkok Siam, Tokyo Shibuya and Seoul Apgujeong.

POPULAR REPAIR SERVICE

The FREITAG repair service has been around almost as long as its robust, upcycled truck tarp bags and accessories. The so-called FREITAG Bag Doctors replace worn hook and loop closures and zippers, swap out bike tubes, straps and labels, fix seams and patch holes in damaged tarps. «That way, not only the tarps, but also the bags themselves get a second life,» says Morena Eberle, Repair Team Lead. The service is in high demand: in 2024 alone, nearly 10,000 bags and accessories were brought back to life, the most ever.

REPAIR AND CUSTOMIZE

Repairs are now handled not only at FREITAG headquarters and nine other repair stations, but also at a brand-new location right in the center of Zurich. With the new workshop right next to the Flagship Store, FREITAG makes its repair services accessible to an even wider audience. «We want to inspire our customers with the long-lasting quality of our products. Our goal is clear: make them last even longer and cut down on the number of bags that are thrown away,» says Peter Hollenstein, Sustainability & Circularity Lead at FREITAG. In addition to tried-and-true and newly added repair options as well as free spare parts, the DIY service FREITAG Yourself is also offered here.

A TAKEAWAY FOR REPAIRS

At the service window of the compact, roughly 10m2 repair station, customers can pick their desired repair job from a menu – almost like at a takeaway. They can collect their fixed bags at the same window, and in some cases even the same day, thanks to new express options. In line with the FREITAG philosophy, the repair kiosk also incorporates reused materials: the awning is made from a circular test tarp, and the signage reuses lettering and wayfinders from the FREITAG factory in Zurich Oerlikon.

MOVING FORWARD TO THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY

Extending or closing cycles is part of FREITAG’s commitment to circularity. But the brand's service portfolio goes far beyond repairs. With a free bag exchange platform, a travel bag rental service, a design-it-yourself experience and – most recently –  a successful secondhand pilot scheme, the Zurich bag manufacturer offers multiple ways to extend product life cycles. Thanks to its take-back service and the right recycling partners, FREITAG has also been able to close the material loops for its first fully circular products.
