FREITAG & PUBLIC POSSESSION: NICE MESSENGER BAGS

From festival installation to limited one-off bags

Zurich, October 2026 – Zurich-based bag maker FREITAG and Munich-based music label Public Possession have joined forces to create a limited edition of one-of-a-kind messenger bags. Made from truck tarpaulins, the large-format graphic banners used to produce the bags originally featured in an installation at a festival in Munich before going on tour in Germany and Switzerland.

This time, instead of giving discarded truck tarpaulins a second life as messenger bags, FREITAG is giving the positive messages and graphics of Public Possession a new lease of life. Over the years, the Munich label has established an international reputation for its vibrant mix of music releases, events, graphic design, streetwear, and more.

For the NICE MESSENGER BAGS limited edition, FREITAG teamed up with Public Possession to create one-of-a-kind bags from 13 used event banners. The individual designs, in P.P.’s signature style, were screen-printed onto 4 × 5-meter truck tarpaulins made primarily from a German tarpaulin manufacturer’s offcuts. The banners were part of a large installation by the music label first exhibited as part of a festival at the Haus der Kunst in Munich.

They then went on tour to a festival in Berlin and a joint event at the FREITAG flagship store in Zurich. The unique banners were subsequently dismantled, washed, and cut to size at the FREITAG factory, and then sewn into one-of-a-kind messenger bags by a long-standing production partner in Europe.

The FREITAG & Public Possession Limited Edition features the F40-PP JAMIE hip or crossbody bag and the classic F14-PP DEXTER messenger bag in a distinctive combination of snow white and deep blue. These colors provide a perfect contrast to the striking red P.P. logo, alongside the FREITAG label. A special woven collaboration label is also attached to the shoulder strap, and each bag includes a “NICE MESSENGER BAGS” zine that features a brief history of the collaboration.

The limited bags will be available from October 29, 2026, exclusively at freitag.ch, publicpossession.com and the P.P. store in Munich.

ABOUT FREITAG
The FREITAG story began in 1993 in the living room of a shared apartment overlooking Zurich’s Hardbrücke, where brothers Daniel and Markus Freitag designed a messenger bag made from used truck tarps. Today, FREITAG offers a wide range of bags and accessories worldwide––each piece a one-off. The company’s headquarters and part of its production remain in Zurich, and it operates 30 FREITAG stores worldwide, including one in Munich. With a holistic design philosophy, life-extending repair and rental services, and bold initiatives, FREITAG aims to play a pioneering role in the circular economy.

ABOUT PUBLIC POSSESSION
Since 2012, Public Possession has been releasing music, producing graphic design, and creating streetwear, regularly combining all three elements into legendary events. Valentino Betz and Marvin Schuhmann founded the label in 2012 out of a shared interest in music, writing, graphic design, and events. The Munich-based collective operates as a music and fashion label, organizes parties, and runs a store in the city. Together with their team, the two founders collaborate with and for museums, cultural institutions, and companies worldwide. Founded as a music label by DJs, for DJs, Public Possession is now more than ever an integral part of international club culture.
