For this year's Art Basel flagship show in June, FREITAG, the local Swiss pioneers in upcycled bags and accessories, have come together with Art Basel Shop to launch an exclusive collection. Inspired by the shared worlds of art handling and freight logistics, the release includes a carry bag and accompanying bag charm.

Every year, as Art Basel brings together galleries and artists from around the globe, a sophisticated logistical orchestration takes place behind the scenes. Masterpieces travel across continents, protected by specialized crates and heavy-duty transport—shielded by the very truck tarps that FREITAG has been upcycling for decades.

Limited Edition release made of upcycled truck tarps
The FREITAG for Art Basel F262-AB JULIEN Tote Bag explores the intersection of art logistics and upcycling design. Each piece is crafted from used truck tarps in varying shades of silver, bearing the unique patina of its previous life on the road. The edition features a bespoke graphic design inspired by shipping iconography in hi-vis pink and black—colors associated with art handling – silkscreen-printed by hand at a studio in Zurich.

This edition is complemented by the F218-AB CHARM, a monogram eye-rolling companion and key finder made from upcycled truck tarp remnants. Since every tarp carries its own story from Europe's highways, no two charms are alike – combining collectability with a distinctive expression of craftsmanship.

Exclusive Release at the Art Basel Shop
The Art Basel Shop offers a curated extension of the show, bringing together artist-designed products, limited editions, and exclusive collaborations that reflect the spirit and creativity of the global art world. Conceived as both a destination and a point of discovery, it invites visitors to engage with Art Basel beyond the exhibition halls.

The FREITAG for Art Basel edition will be available in limited quantities exclusively at the Art Basel Shop and the FREITAG Store Basel from June 18 – 21, 2026.
