Every F738 COOL BAG is made from used truck tarps — this time in silver only — and comes with a detachable shoulder strap made from discarded car seat belts. Both are rugged guarantees of a long life alongside expressive urbanites.

RECYCLED PLASTIC, IT’S FANTASTIC

The eye-catching handles coming in lots of unique color variations make every F738 COOL BAG one of a kind. The colorful secret ingredient: recycled plastic waste, including food packaging, old hospital clothing, used lab material, and expired hygiene masks.

To produce the sturdy handles, FREITAG brought in the people at Precious Plastic Zurich. They specialize in recycling plastics and crafted every single piece by hand in Zurich. The ergonomic shape was co-developed with a Zurich engineering firm and makes it comfy in the hand.

How long do drinks and food stay cold or frozen in the F738 COOL BAG ?

How long the cooling effect of F738 COOL BAG lasts depends on various factors, including the outside temperature, the temperature of the bag's contents, the total volume, sunlight, etc. That's why FREITAG can't give one general answer that applies across the board.

What's an F738 COOL BAG good for, and what not so much?

Dos: F738 COOL BAG is suitable for short period use and relatively low-risk items. So use it to keep your picnic ingredients and drinks cool on the go, for example, or to bring frozen food straight home.

Don'ts: Like the supermarket bags that inspired it, the FREITAG cooler bag CANNOT be guaranteed to keep delicate goods below specific temperature limits for several hours.

What are the best tricks for keeping the contents of the F738 COOL BAG cold/cool for as long as possible?

Top tip: use cold packs, ice packs or other cooling elements. Pop them into the F738 COOL BAG with your goodies and you’ll keep the chill in your bag for longer.
Make sure you insert the lining correctly so it wraps round your chilled goods as well as possible. Our Product Movie will show you how.
Always close your bag completely and open it as rarely as possible, so warm air can't get in.
Keep the ambient temperature as low as possible and keep the bag away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Have you carried out specific tests on the cooling function? What were the results?

We ran two comparison tests. First, we placed a single chilled drink can (5.5°C) in the empty F738 COOL BAG. After 1.5 hours, the temperature was 8.7°C, after two hours, it was still just under 10°C—an acceptable drinking temperature, we think. For comparison, we left a second can at the same starting temperature at room temperature. After one hour, it had already reached 14.9°C.

Second test under the same conditions: after 1.5 hours in the F738 COOL BAG, a small cup of frozen sorbet (-18°C) had thawed just enough to serve perfectly for dessert. At room temperature, the comparison sample had already melted by then.
